The two pieces on this little EP were originally intended to be the final two tracks on a four track album. Those four tracks were recorded exactly a year ago after a prolonged period where I had felt an unusual lack of desire to engage in any musical activity. Composed and recorded on four consecutive days, the four pieces seemed to me to be very clear indicators of where I was at musically and otherwise, but in time I came to feel that the first two tracks perhaps didn’t have the same honesty that I perceived in the final two, so I shelved the lot.

Time passed, and when I was writing the music that would end up becoming NAU I thought back to these two tracks, recognising in them some of the same energy that I was then in the process of trying to capture again. I thought about editing them down and including them on that album, but cutting them up felt wrong; their length and the slow pace of their development are two of the things that I like the most about them.
