The Lifted Index Delicate, gorgeous, textured music. 'Fabric of Minutes' is all heart and soul. It is clear that Stephen has a command of the instruments he uses here in the restraint he shows throughout the album's runtime. Allowing each note its own time to bloom and fade, interacting with the reverb of a room, the bit reduced grains hovering just above the sound before melting back into it, it's pure bliss. I cannot wait to hear what is next for Tunnelwater.

The pieces on this album are a small selection of the results of a daily improvisation practice that I started a few months ago. Since the practice involved non-musical elements, a strict form, and never became natural enough to accurately be called a habit, it feels most correct to call it a ritual practice. A detailed description of all aspects of the practice is superfluous to the requirements of these liner notes; it is enough to say that with a minimal set of tools and a limited timeframe, at the end of each session I would end up with a little piece of music that had been formed through improvisation, and it is some of these small pieces that, without alterations and additions, appear on this album.
